First Documentary to feature Alaska coastal wolves
Wolf ecotype documented for the first time
Analysis of our gathered hair and exrecments showed that most of their diet is Gulf of Alaska marinelife. They swim miles to offshore islands where they hunt marine mammals and sea birds. From summer to fall, they fish for salmon in rivers and streams alongside the more abundant brown bears. Sea wolves disperse throughout winter to hunt moose and small land mammals. By spring, pups are born and the pack harvests prey closer to their natal den. They relocate to a nearby estuary when summer salmon return from the sea.
We introduce the untold story of Canis lupus adaptation to Alaska’s remote coastal ecosystems.
Encounters with these unhabituated wild canines lead us to imagine how wolves became dogs.
